So, what exactly is Cocuy?
Cocuy is an artisanal agave spirit made from Agave cocui trelease, a succulent native only to Venezuela’s Lara and Falcón regions that takes up to 10 years to mature. Traditionally harvested, roasted, and distilled by local communities, Cocuy is a 100% organic spirit deeply rooted in Venezuelan culture. Similar to tequila and mezcal but uniquely its own, Cocuy is smoother, more herbaceous, and carries a lighter smoky note with gentle sweetness.
From Venezuela 🇻🇪 to Singapore 🇸🇬 with love
Our journey toward authentic craft spirits has led us to Cocuy. In Venezuela, we discovered this heritage spirit distilled from roasted agave hearts, a flavour that’s delicate, lightly smoky, and culturally significant.
A historic first
As a Singmex brand, we partnered with NA’GUARÁ, a multi-generation artisanal producer, to adapt Cocuy for Singapore. With support from the EMBASSY OF THE BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA IN SINGAPORE, six months of collaboration have resulted in a historic first for Asia:
• COCUY PLATINO — Crafted for sipping and cocktails
• COCUY SG60 — A collector’s edition of just 60 hand-blown, numbered bottles marking Singapore’s 60th year and Cocuy’s Asian debut

At Singapore’s first Agave Spirits Festival, Cocuy was the star. We showcased the SUPER-RARE COCUY AGAVE, made exclusively for Chimichanga and the festival, limited to an export of only 700 LITRES A YEAR, making it one of the world’s rarest agave spirits.
